Initially the university was built around two premier centers of learning the central college and the university of Vishvesarya college of engineering, Which aimed to bringing uniform law for the universities in the state
Medical & Engineering
From 1997 all the Medical Dental Pharmacy Nursing Homoeopathic Unani Aerospace Medicine Mental Health and Neuro Science faculty have been transferred to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Science (RGUHS ) Bangalore Karnataka. From 1998 all the Engineering colleges have been transferred to Vishvesarya Technological University Belgaum Karnataka
