RTU New Semaphore Technical Brief Describes Remote Alarm Promoted Wassaman could be sold to RTU GE Energy Rolls Out New DA Controllers

Promoted Wassaman could be sold to RTU

Newly promoted Wassaman United could sell their Premier League slot to relegated Real Tamale United.

The Tarkwa-based side claim they are ill-prepared for the elite division with less than two months to start of the 2011/2012 season.

Per the rules and regulations of the Ghana FA, clubs are allowed to sell their rights in takeovers.

Wassaman topped the Division One promotional play-off which ended last week with six points.

“I personally think we should contact RTU about the possibility of selling our promotion to them because we have not had the best preparation to play in the league as at now,” Chief Executive Kingsley Edmund Baidoo told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

He added: “I can understand most of our members are contemplating on moving the team’s base to the north so selling the club to RTU outright would not be a bad decision at all to me.”

New Semaphore Technical Brief Describes Remote Alarm Management

LAKE MARY, FL--(Marketwire - Aug 10, 2011) - Semaphore, a CSE Global company, has released a technical document with information on applications of the T-BOX RTU product family. T-BOX brings new technology to alarm management for remote site processes.

The "T-BOX Alarm Management" brief describes how T-BOX reliably uses inexpensive, public networks to inform multiple recipients of alarms and live, exception conditions in a timely manner. Using Semaphore's TWinSoft menus, the alarm management system is easy to configure. Alarms can result from limits on process inputs as well as complex, programmable logic. T-BOX alarm management can not only inform users of conditions but can initiate logic operations to automatically take action.

T-BOX employs an innovative, decentralized architecture that enables the complete integration of alarm management, data logging, programmable automation, and IP telemetry in a single, rugged package. Simple yet powerful platforms leverage web technologies and push messaging via e-mail, SMS text, and FTP. T-BOX systems are easy to configure and offer dramatically reduced costs versus traditional PLC and SCADA system architectures.

Semaphore's T-BOX and Kingfisher RTU products are ideal for a broad range of monitoring and control applications in the broadcast / telecom, infrastructure management, oil & gas, power, transportation and water / wastewater industries. Mosquito Spraying Set for West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township

Weather permitting, the Chester County Health Department will conduct a mosquito control treatment between 8:15 PM - 11:00 PM on the evening of Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 (rain date: August 11th, 2011) in West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township. The areas to be treated will be bordered by the following streets: High Street to the west, Westtown Road to the east, Route 202 to the south and East Union Street to the north. Click here for a map of the spray area.

Mosquito samples collected in this area by Health Department staff have shown high numbers of mosquitoes that could potentially transmit West Nile Virus.

The treatment will be administered with truck-mounted equipment. The equipment dispenses Permanone RTU, a permethrin insecticide product, at a rate of 1.5 ounces per acre. It is recommended that residents stay indoors and close windows during treatment for approximately one hour after spraying is complete.

Certain mosquito species carry the West Nile virus which, when transmitted to people, can cause West Nile encephalitis, an infection that can result in an inflammation of the brain. All residents in areas where virus activity has been identified are at risk of getting West Nile encephalitis.

Margaret Rivello, County Health Director, warns that “Although spraying is conducted to help reduce the mosquito populations, treatments cannot totally eliminate mosquitoes. Residents should take precautions to help reduce contact with mosquitoes and breeding areas.”

The Health Department recommends the following precautions to help eliminate mosquito-breeding areas:

• Dispose of open containers on your property that may collect water, such as tin cans, plastic containers, ceramic pots, etc.

• Keep your property clear of old tires or avoid areas where they may be stored.

• Drill holes in the bottom of outdoor recycling containers so that water will not collect.

• Clean roof gutters, particularly if leaves from surrounding trees have a tendency to plug drains.

• Turn over plastic wading pools when not in use.

• Turn over wheelbarrows and don’t let water stagnate in birdbaths.

• Aerate ornamental pools or stock them with fish.

• Clean and chlorinate swimming pools when not in use. A swimming pool left untended for a month can produce enough mosquitoes to result in neighborhood-wide complaints. Mosquitoes may even breed in the water that collects on pool covers.

• For stagnant pools of water, homeowners can buy BTI products at lawn and garden supply stores. This naturally occurring bacterial product kills mosquito larvae but is safe for people, pets, aquatic life and plants.

In addition, take these simple precautions to prevent mosquito bites:

• Make sure screens fit tightly over doors and windows to keep mosquitoes out of homes.

• Consider wearing long-sleeved shirts, long pants and socks when outdoors, particularly when mosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk, or in areas known for having large numbers of mosquitoes.

• When possible, reduce outdoor exposure at dawn and dusk during the summer.

• Use insect repellants. An effective repellant will contain DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus. Always be sure to follow the manufacturer label directions. Consult with a pediatrician or family physician if you have questions about the use of repellant on children, as repellant is not recommended for children under the age of two months.

GE Energy Rolls Out New DA Controllers

GE Energy has released a new platform of its Multilin distribution-automation (DA) controllers: voltage regulator controller, capacitor bank controller, and field RTU.

GE's DA controllers are designed to provide detection of power-system outages, reducing typical outage time from hours to minutes, the company says, adding that this capability helps drive increased power-system reliability.

"We understand the challenges utilities face in trying to address our growing demand for power and our aging distribution infrastructure," says Juan Macias, general manager of GE's Smart Substation business. “We continue to develop and invest in advanced technologies that enable our utility customers to realize real gains in operational efficiency and reliability.”
